The book won't help you much with printing text in BL.
See Steven's 'wp' program. Write a document (which puts you into the
editor) type Ctrl-R to Retrieve (import) the document, specify the path
and file name, Ctrl-X to save it to the current directory, then choose the
menu number for printing to an attached parallel port printer which works
in DOS. This wp script converts linux to DOS format, which HP inkjet
printers need. You may also need to hit the paper feed button to get it
started. Dot-matrix printers do not need the conversion or the paper feed
button assist.
Or:
insmod parport
insmod parport_pc
(drivers for the parallel port)
insmod lp
(driver for the printer)
cat filename.txt > /dev/lp0 (lpt1) - if a dot-matrix printer
For newer printers look at the wp script to see how to use dos2unix for
the file conversion.
The 'normal' linuxes print with lpd and lpr, which is much more complex to
set up and requires converting the text to pdf or ps first.
