Hi Steven & John
I noticed that the "ping" response is different when I first boot up from
what it is after I look at pppsetup without even making changes, just
exit with ^xn.
Fresh boot it says -
/#ppp-on
/usr/sbin/pppd: This system lacks kernel support for PPP. blah blah blah
service @0: pppd failure at 9:30PM Fri 11, 2006
After looking at pppsetup -

registered device pp0
Removed stale lock on ttyS0 (pid49)
Serial connection established.
Using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS0
Remote mesage ^D^EM-t^B^F
local IP address 67.150.121.58
remote IP address 63.93.65.82

And John, the /etc/host.conf file says -
order hosts, bind
multi on
Hope all the above gives a clue to what's going on, and hope I didn't
make any typo's.
