Can you just put into config.sys the line
device=aspi.sys (with path to aspi.sys if not in main directory)?
DOS cdroast and/or cdrecord had some way to install the driver on the fly
and then remove it afterwards. If you don't have those (one of them is a
very slow download) I can look it up. I managed to unautomate the process
so as to choose the second cd-rom drive. I would like to know how to
install/uninstall DOS drivers without config.sys anyway (so we can omit
the two USB drivers from config.sys, which slows down booting because they
keep looking for a USB device).

I ran across mention of this - it may be based on one of the other two
programs (cdroast?). I will check it out some time for copying music CDs.
