Jim,
This is no more plausible than proposing that the country of Norway has no roads, because 'r' is often not pronounced distinctively in certain languages related to Norwegian, and so the etymology of the name 'Norway' might reflect the phrase 'No Way', in which 'way' is a synonym for 'road', and therefore Norway is the country of No Roads, which makes sense seeing that much of its northern coastline is broken by fjords, which are very discouraging to road builders. The opposite of Norway is obviously the Greek island of Rhodes.
