Yes, and furthermore why not check the inscriptional evidence of this
 very verb, in an identical manner to its biblical use, in a very kindred
 language - Moabite?
 
Check the Mesha stele, line 17.

I have a related idea. Why not look at Joshua 11:16 which is parallel to Judges 3:3 ?

There instead of "Baal-Hermon"  we have "Baal-Gad in the valley of Lebanon which is under mount Hermon".

So perhaps "Baal-Hermon" is the result of a lacuna in the text of Judges ?
