Yes, there are many objections. It is helpful to know that Jim Stinehart is
not know Semiticist, has never undertaken any formal study of the lesson,
and would be laughed at by real Semiticists, which in fact he has been. You
can see some moderators trying to get through to Jim at Biblicalist (on
Yahoo), but sadly, he refuses to listen.
You're right about GLYL coming ultimately from GLL. GLYL also means
"district" or "region", and is used as such in Isaiah 8.23. I don't believe
this etymology has been updated since, and certainly Mr. Stinehart's new
etymology is unfounded.
