Was it ever about ex nihilo? I thought the question was regarding the use of ἀόρατος [AORATOS] to translate ToHW. in ToHW. WfBoHW.
… search for truth, hear truth,
learn truth, love truth, speak the truth, hold the truth,
defend the truth till death.

To be sure if the question were about the meaning of tohu wabohu or
on how it is dealt with in the LXX, the other passages become of
interest. I took the question to be about AORATOS in Gen 1:2, and I
don't think that corresponds to ex nihilo.
