Hey, Jeffrey, I think it mostly has to do with the fact that translation is
an easy way to check whether or not students are getting the material.
Traditionally, a "Greek quiz" for a beginning student will have a paradigm
section, a vocabulary section, and something to translate. It works for me,
though I'm sure that Randall Buth and others on this list may suggest
