No, θεοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ [QEOU EN AUTWi] will never be "God in Christ."  It will always be θεοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ [QEOU EN AUTWi].  :-)

Seriously though (since I really do understand your question), the object of the verb ἐγνώκαμεν [EGNWKAMEN] is Χριστόν [XRISTON] and the object of the preceding prepositions ὑπὲρ [hUPER], ἐν [EN], and διὰ [DIA] (other than the two instances of ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν [hUPER hUMWN]) is Χριστοῦ [XRISTOU] or Χριστῷ which must be considered to be the referent of αὐτῷ [AUTWi].

Never attempt to read the text on the basis of what your theology might want.

My theology wants " . . . .  θεου εν αυτω "  to say " . . . . God in Christ (by implication).

Impossible ?
