In my scan of the blogs this morning I find a nice entry by Rick
Brannan on Greek Readers. It's a followup on an earlier post about
some other Greek readers, older and more recent:

In yesterday's note,

he describes two more books, one of which is Rod Decker's _Koine
Greek Reader: Selections from the New Testament, Septuagint, and
Early Christian Writers_, to be published in November; the other is
_A Historical Greek Reader: Mycenaean to the Koine_ by Stephen
Colvin_, to be released in early December.

I've read through Rod Decker's book in manuscript and can recommend
it -- especially for those who are convinced that producing an
English translation is the primary objective of learning Biblical
Greek, but actually to all who want to develop simultaneously all the
skills needed by anyone who's really serious about learning Biblical
Greek. I'm eager to peruse the Stephen Colvin book which looks like
it will be a helpful tool not only for the sake of the literature
included but also for appreciating the diachronic perspective on the
different phases of a language that has always been in flux.
