The context of 4 of 5 NT uses of MUQOS suggests Metzger is right to seek to
identify the source within other extant Jewish literature. My question is
where does Metzger make this suggestion? Can you give the ref?.
Titus1:14 - IOUDAIKOS specified
1Tim1:4 - 1:7 specifies teachers of the Law, cf. connection with GENEALOGIAI
to Titus' problems in Crete.
2Tim4:4 - continues theme after ref to Book of Jannes and Jambres
2Pet1:16~19 - the way the transfiguration narrative is cited here is a
direct contrast with apocalyptic literature, eg. the mountain-top
revelations of Enoch 17:1 etc., and the use of comparative BEBAIOTEROS
requires the existence of a "word of prophecy made less certain".
True 1Tim 4:7 has no identification, but neither does the adjective GRAWDHS
